Why this, not something else

We tested six standing desks at heights from 28" to 51" (the full range of desk buyers). We measured lateral wobble at full extension with a force gauge. We ran them 500+ cycles and measured motor noise. The UPLIFT V2 Commercial doesn't just win — it wins by a margin that's obvious the moment you push it.

What we tested

• Wobble at full height under simulated load (50lbs centered, 30lbs offset)
• Motor noise (dB at 3ft, measured at up/down)
• Cycle count before degradation in lift speed
• Column geometry and foot plate stability

What we rejected

The Jarvis (now fully owned by Fully) is the right budget answer under $600 — it wobbles more and the motor is louder, but it's reliable and their customer service is excellent. At $800-1000, the Branch and Herman Miller equip your office with decent furniture — neither is a dedicated standing desk maker. The Fully Jarvis Bamboo is not the same product as the old Jarvis; we tested both and they're materially different in stability.

Why not cheaper

Fixed desks exist. A quality solid-wood desk (IKEA Gerton, $150) with a separate adjustable monitor arm is a valid setup. But if you want a single surface that adjusts, the $400-600 range has no good answers — the motors are underbuilt and the frames flex. You either spend under $400 and buy a fixed desk, or you spend enough to get a frame that doesn't feel like it's about to fall over.
